Heat Exhaustion & Heatstroke
Cool rapidly. Heatstroke is life-threatening.
Heat exhaustion
- Headache, dizzy, sweating heavily
- Cramps
- Fast pulse
- Nausea
- Move to cool area, sip water, cool skin, rest 30 min
Heatstroke — 999
- Body temp > 40°C, hot dry skin (not sweating)
- Confusion, seizures, unresponsive
- Move to cool area, remove outer clothing
- Cold water on skin, fan aggressively, ice packs to neck/armpits/groin
- If unresponsive but breathing: recovery position
