Non-statutory power to prevent or stop a breach of the peace.
What counts as a breach
- Harm caused to a person or property in their presence, OR
- Person is in fear of such harm.
Your powers
- Any person (including security) may take reasonable steps to prevent or stop a breach.
- May detain briefly to prevent immediate breach.
- Should hand over to police as soon as practicable.
